Tamara Patterson (Tamara.Patterson@emwnlaw.com) is an associate at EMWN and part of the firm’s estate planning team. She is dedicated to providing compassionate and effective legal counsel in estate planning and probate administration. With a deep understanding that every individual and family has unique needs, Tamara excels at guiding clients through the often-complex process of defining their end-of-life goals and then meticulously crafting customized solutions to secure their legacies.

Tamara's commitment to excellence is reflected in her impressive academic background and diverse professional experience. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida in 2000 and earned her master’s degree magna cum laude from St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in 2005. Deciding to pursue a legal career, she attended the University of Kentucky College of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor cum laude in 2017. During law school, Tamara honed her legal research and writing skills as a member of the editorial board for the Kentucky Law Journal and was recognized with the Best Appellee Brief award in the first-year appellate advocacy competition.

Prior to joining EMWN, Tamara gained valuable experience in employment law, estate planning, and civil litigation. She served as chair, vice-chair, and treasurer of the KBA’s Labor and Employment Law Section, and has spoken on employment law topics at various conferences and seminars.
Tamara's dedication extends beyond her legal practice, encompassing significant professional and volunteer contributions to the nonprofit sector. She served as president of the board of the Jessamine County Food Pantry and has been a respected board member for several local, regional, and national nonprofit organizations. As a law clerk for the Blue Grass Community Foundation, Tamara played a key role in developing educational resources for nonprofit board development. Before her legal career, she worked in the areas of nonprofit grant administration and public relations.

Tamara has been recognized for her accomplishments as an attorney by Super Lawyers, being named to its Rising Star list each year from 2019-2025, and by Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America in 2025. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky and is an active member of the Kentucky Bar Association.
